Meet the Principal

Patrick Leonard is the proud Principal of Sun Path Elementary School, bringing a wealth of experience and a deep connection to the Shakopee community.

His career in public education began in 1991, and he has served the Shakopee school district exclusively since that time. For the past 15+ years, he has been at the helm of Sun Path Elementary. Prior to his principalship, he was the School Social Worker and Due Process Facilitator at Sweeney Elementary.

Originally from Brooklyn Center, Leonard has called Shakopee home since 1991, where he resides with his wife. His two sons are proud graduates of Shakopee High School.

In his free time, Leonard enjoys outdoor pursuits such as fishing and hunting with his family up north, and he is an avid supporter of both Minnesota and Shakopee sports teams.

Academically, Leonard holds a Principal Certification from Minnesota State University, Mankato. He earned his Master's in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Minnesota, making him a dedicated fan of both Gophers and Badgers.
